My journey to success in America was not what I hoped it would be. In 2005, I moved to the USA from Nigeria after graduating with a BSc. in Computer Science. I was excited to marry my husband, start a family, and pursue a corporate career. I ventured into the job market, but I wasn't prepared for the rejections I would face. Every prospective employer pointed to my lack of US experience, despite my previous work with Shell & KPMG Nigeria, and would not offer me a job. The pain of being judged as not good enough was overwhelming.

In 2008, I got a corporate job with a global sporting equipment company. But my excitement was short-lived as I got laid off in the middle of the great recession which hit the US economy. It was devastating! In 2009, I went back to school to get a Master's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS). I got several certifications along the way - PMP (Project Management Professional), Scrum Master, ITIL v.3. I faced more rejections with all my degrees and certifications. I had a mounting student loan debt looming over my head to show for all my effort. My dream of working in Corporate America became an illusion.

After soul searching and prayer, I stopped pursuing a corporate career. During my time seeking a job, I had never asked myself why I wanted a corporate career. A corporate job felt like the only option. I decided to say yes to the Holy Spirit's nudge to start a business instead of hearing no from so many sources.

In 2012, I made a choice to start my own business at 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child. Fulfilling my purpose was more than a corporate career. I started a side hustle as an International Shopper helping family and friends shop in the US. I learned firsthand how to validate a business idea with family and friends. I learned how to deliver excellent service and leverage word of mouth to grow a business. The side hustle has grown into a 7-figure e-commerce logistics company. The company is giving over 40,000 customers across 2 countries access to global commerce. I and 2 co-founders lead the company with a 44+ team working across the USA, Nigeria, Canada, Ghana, and Australia. Wow!

You too can do the same. You create remarkable results when you choose to say "YES" to your purpose. You have a purpose within you greater than you can imagine.

A path that seemed terrifying to me became my path to freedom, personal growth, and fulfillment. And I'm excited to share it with you!
